Adela "Aunt Dell" (Karl) Ress in 1901
     Adela M. Karl, daughter of Philip F. Karl and Mary Ann Strubel, was born on 22 August 1879 in Canal Dover, Ohio.2,3

Idella was listed as a daughter in the 1900 US Federal Census, enumerated 25 June 1900, in the household of Philip F. Karl and Mary Ann of Canal Dover, Tuscarawas County (Dover Township), Ohio. They lived at 27 Fourth Street, a house owned free and clear of a mortgage.4 There was no occupation listed for her, although she was about twenty years old.4

On 25 July 1902, her brother Harry B. died of typhoid fever at the age of 19 years and 10 months.5,6,7,8

On 15 June 1909, Adela M. Karl married Louis H. Ress, son of John Rehs and Elizabeth Miller, in Canal Dover.2

She was also known as Aunt Dell.

Della was listed as the wife of Louis H. Ress in the 1920 US Federal Census of Youngstown (8th Ward), Mahoning County (Precinct H), Ohio, enumerated 12 January 1920. They lived at 177 West Glenaven Avenue.9 Besides her husband and son, Della's father Phillip, her younger sister Helen, and her nephew Leo lived in the household. Leo's mother had died two years previously in the influenza pandemic of 1918.9

On 7 December 1941, her sister Helen Catherine died of a fractured skull and traumatic shock sustained in a head-on auto collision at the age of 49 years, 6 months and 22 days. The accident occurred in Southington, Trumbull County, Ohio, while she was on her way back from visiting friends in Cleveland to show them her new engagement ring and celebrate her news of an impending marriage. She died at 8 p.m.10,11

Adela M. Karl died on 15 October 1956 in Youngstown, Ohio, at age 77 of complications after gallbladder surgery.2,1 She was buried in Calvary Cemetery, which is located in Youngstown, Ohio.12

     Agnes F. Karl, daughter of Peter Karl and Sarah Auman, was born on 3 November 1883 in Dover, Ohio.2,3

Agnes was listed as a daughter in the 1900 US Federal Census, enumerated 23 June 1900, in the household of Peter Karl and Sarah of Canal Dover, Tuscarawas County (Dover Township), Ohio. They lived at 303 Factory Street, a house owned by Peter free and clear of a mortgage.4 She was only sixteen years old and not yet married.4

On 11 July 1904, Agnes F. Karl married Joseph Wilhelm, son of Martin Wilhelm and Magdalena Erhard, in Dover.5,1,2

Agnes F. Karl died on 22 December 1963 at age 80.2

         Anna Maria Karl, daughter of Johann Georg Ludwig Karl and Catharine Elisabeth Rentz, was born on 21 February 1836 in Wurzweiler near Rockenhausen, Donnersbergkreis, Bayern (Bavaria), Germany.2,1 Her godmother was Anna Maria Schneider.1 Her birth date and/or place has also been reported as around 1840 in Germany, which is incorrect.3

    Anna Maria Karl immigrated on 27 May 1850 to New York.4

    Ann M. was listed on 27 August 1850 as a household member living with Johann Georg Ludwig Karl on the 1850 US Federal Census of Buck Township, Tuscarawas County, Ohio, enumerated 27 August 1850. John was Elizabeth's husband and father of everyone else in the household: John Jr., Peter, Ann M. [Maria], Jacob, Valentine, Elizabeth, Catharine, and Phillip. They lived at dwelling number 451. Also living with the family was an 18-year-old girl named Barbara Renson; her surname is suspiciously close to the maiden name of John's wife, Elisabeth Rentz, and she might be Elisabeth's younger sister.5

    On 5 November 1865, when Anna was 29 years, 8 months and 15 days old, her father, Johann Georg Ludwig Karl, died at the age of 62.6,7,8

         Barbara Karl was baptized on 1 August 1801 in Wurzweiler near Rockenhausen, Donnersbergkreis, Bayern (Bavaria), Germany.1 She had three godparents, which was rather unusual: Barbara Engel, Maria Margaretha Stollhoffer, and Louis Engel.1

    Peter and Barbara had a daughter, Catherine, on 20 September 1823 in Wurzweiler.2 Although Catherine was illegitimate, she was baptized in the Catholic Church; her baptismal record acknowledges both of her parents, who did later marry.2

    On 21 May 1824, Barbara Karl married Peter Frey in Wurzweiler.3,4,5
