On 19 November 1834, Jane Weaver married John Jeffrey.5,1 Jane was listed on 10 June 1860 as a household member living with John Jeffrey on the 1860 US Federal Census of Washington County (Independence Township), Pennsylvania, enumerated 10 June 1860. John was Jane's husband and father to Sarah J., Mary, Katherine E., Margaret, Camilla, Nancy R., John M., Lizzy, Robert Calvin, and Samuel G. They lived at dwelling number 93. Also living in the household was a 17-year-old boy named Elias Adams from Pennsylvania, who worked there as a farmhand. The farm next to them was unoccupied, and the next one after that was held by a family of black sharecroppers. John stated a value of $4000 for his real estate and $2532 for his personal estate. Jane, his wife, listed a value of her own personal property of $500.6 Jane was listed on 30 July 1870 as a household member living with John Jeffrey on the 1870 US Federal Census of Washington County (Independence Township), Pennsylvania, enumerated 30 July 1870. John was Jane's husband and father to Camilla, Nancy, John, and Graham.. They lived at dwelling number 7. Jane, his wife, no longer listed a separate value for her own personal property.7 John Jeffrey and Jane Weaver moved circa 1871 to Jefferson County, Ohio, from probably Washington County, Pennsylvania.8 Jane was listed as the wife of John Jeffrey in the 1880 US Federal Census of Jefferson County (Island Creek Township), Ohio, enumerated 7 June 1880. It read, in part, that in addition to the children listed in the next sentence, she was also survived by Mrs. Robert Foulk of Knox Township, and Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Rogers of Washington County, Pennsylvania; I have not yet figured out which daughters these are. Also, son John was mentioned in a shorter obituary that seems to have appeared first (and omitted many of his siblings) but not in the longer one.. As listed in the obituary, Jane was survived by, her sons Graham and John, her daughters Mrs. Chas. McConnell and Mrs. Edward Mills.8 |
