Eliza Blickenderfer and John Carl obtained a marriage license on 2 January 1863 in Tuscarawas County, Ohio.7 On 4 January 1863, Anna E. Blickensdorfer married John J. Karl, son of Johann Georg Ludwig Karl and Catharine Elisabeth Rentz, in Tuscarawas Cty.8,9,10 John and Anna had a daughter, Laura M., on 20 November 1864 in Ohio.2 John and Anna had a daughter, Carrie E., circa 1868 in Ohio. John and Anna had a son, Harry E., in February 1868 in Ohio.11 John and Anna had a daughter, Idella M., on 31 August 1871 in Ohio.12,2 John and Anna had a son, Benjamin P., on 31 August 1871 in Ohio.2 John and Anna had a daughter, Jessie W., on 29 November 1874 in Ohio.2 Anna E. Blickensdorfer was keeping house.12 Annie was listed as the wife of John Karl in the 1880 US Federal Census of Shanesville, Tuscarawas County (Sugar Creek Township), Ohio, enumerated 15 June 1880. All the children, including six-year-old Jessie, were or had been attending school that year; Harry, however, was also noted as "at home".12 On 4 August 1890, her daughter Laura M. died at the age of 25 years, 8 months and 15 days.9 On 29 December 1894, her son Benjamin P. died of tuberculosis at the age of 23 years, 3 months and 29 days.13,14,9 On 4 February 1898, her daughter Jessie W. died of consumption at the age of 23 years, 2 months and 3 days. She had never married.15,9 Anna was listed as the wife of John J. Karl in the 1900 US Federal Census of Canal Dover, Tuscarawas County (Dover Township), Ohio, enumerated 16 June 1900. They lived at about 73 Wooster Street, a rented house apparently shared with two (or possibly three) other families.16 She is recorded as having borne six children, only three of whom were still living.16 Anna E. Blickensdorfer died on 13 February 1906 in Dover, Ohio, at age 68 of heart failure.17,18 Anna E. Blickensdorfer was buried in Dover, Maple Grove Cemetery.2 |
