Sarah Dahoney was listed on 18 July 1870 as a household member living with John Hassett on the 1870 US Federal Census of Steubenville, Jefferson County (Steubenville Township), Ohio, enumerated 18 July 1870. John was husband to Hannah, father to John, Sarah, James, Michael, and Martin, and Sarah Dahoney's son-in-law.. They lived at dwelling number 321, which was not shared with any other families. John declared no value for either any real estate or personal property.7

Sarah was an active woman in the Catholic church until shortly before her death, when she became too feeble to be about. One of her obituaries described her as "a devoted mother and generous woman."1,5

Sarah (--?--) died on 31 January 1884 in Steubenville, Ohio, of old age.2,8,9 She was buried on 1 February 1884 in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.1,10
