John Hassett was Roman Catholic and a member of St. Peter's Church. He was born in 1820 in Killaloe Parish, County Clare, Ireland.3

John Hassett immigrated in 1847 to America.3

In 1851, John Hassett married Hannah Dohoney, daughter of Michael Dohoney/Dahoney and Sarah (--?--), in New York.4,5

John appeared in the 1870 US Federal Census of Steubenville, Jefferson County (Steubenville Township), Ohio, enumerated 18 July 1870. He was recorded as the head of a household that also included Hannah, John, Sarah, James, Michael, Martin and Sarah Dahoney. Hannah is his wife, and John, Sarah, James, Michael, and Martin their children; Sarah Dahoney is John's mother-in-law.. They lived at dwelling number 321, which was not shared with any other families. John declared no value for either any real estate or personal property.6

John Hassett was employed on the railroad in Steubenville.6

On 16 December 1889 his wife Hannah Hassett died in Steubenville, Ohio, of enlargement of the liver.2,7

John was listed as "father" in the 1900 US Federal Census, enumerated 14 June 1900, in the household of Michael Hassett and Mary of Steubenville (Fifth Ward), Jefferson County (Steubenville Township), Ohio. They lived at 806 Sherman Avenue, a house that still had a mortgage on it; it was not shared with any other families.8 John may not have been in great shape by this time; he was about 80 years old. The month of his birth was listed as "don't know", the year of his immigration to America was off by more than ten years, and he was described as being unable to read, write, or speak English. (The 1870 census thirty years earlier had indicated that he was completely literate.).8

John Hassett died on 11 May 1903 in Steubenville, of died 6:55 p.m.3

She died an unmarried woman. Sarah appears to have been born in Steubenville, Ohio, but for "some time" before her death had been living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was apparently buried in Steubenville.2

Sarah Hassett died circa 6 March 1876 USA.2

     Clara C. Hastings, daughter of Zach S. Hastings and Rosetta Butler, was born on 24 September 1877.

On 25 June 1905, Clara C. Hastings married Charles Garfield Sprong, son of David Henry Sprong and Rachel Marie Halladay.1

On 12 May 1906, her daughter Edith died.1

Charles and Clara had twins, Edith and Ethel, on 12 May 1906 in Kansas.1

On 23 May 1906 Clara C. Hastings died Kansas, at age 28 of probably complications from childbirth, leaving Charles a widower.2,3

Clara C. Hastings was buried in Round Prairie, Kansas, Round Prairie Cemetery.
