Rhea Ensign witnessed the marriage of Dr. Aaron Alfred Sprong and Elene Ensign on 2 December 1933 at the home of Elene's aunt Lillie Brown in Lawrence, Kansas.4,5,6 On 10 December 1933 Rhea wrote a letter to Elene Sprong. She had just attended Elene's (her sister) wedding the week before at the home of their aunt, Lillie, in Lawrence, Kansas. Rhea wrote, "Have you had a busy week? This getting married involves a good many things, doesn't it? Did you really surprise a good many people, or had the news leaked out? It gave me a queer feeling myself when you were being married--it seemed so strange that just a few words like those could so change the course of one's life. You know, I'm sure, that I am wholeheartedly wishing that you and Aaron may make a truly successful marriage and that you will have a very happy life together. You have almost everything in your favor--if you are not too impatient and if you give yourselves time enough in which to secure what you desire. You and Aaron make a fine-looking couple--life should mean a great deal more to each other now. Lovingly, Rhea.7" On 11 June 1934, Rhea Ensign married Sterling Branson in Kansas.8 Rhea Ensign died on 22 August 1989 in Redlands, California, at age 85.9 Rhea Ensign was buried on 25 August 1989 at Montecito Memorial Park in Colton, California.10 Services were held graveside at 11 a.m.9 |
